Riverside Drive Gardens Tour with Debe Fennell
Riverside Drive Gardens Tour with Debe Fennell Saturday, July 3rd from 9am to 10am and July 17th from 9am to 10am Starting at Bicentennial Sculpture Park: 10 Ralston St, Reno, NV 89503 We'll walk WEST along the Truckee River walk for 2.5 blocks as Debe helps you discover the diversity and beauty of the gardens along Riverside Drive. These city gardens are maintained by the Debe and the Rotary Club of Reno, along with assistance from the City of Reno Park Maintenance Department and KTMB staff and volunteers. Debe will talk about: • What grows in the Riverside Drive (River Walk) gardens and the benefits to our city • How the gardens are maintained by ordinary citizen volunteers, with help from our friends • Why she started out weeding and managed the planting of more than 20,000 plants in the gardens For the last 7 years, Debe has worked to clean up and enhance the gardens, to include plants that have been there for many years, adding hundreds of new plants and shrubs along the way. Her goal is to have no dirt showing! And, to show people plants that can be grown here in the Truckee Meadows…with the proper care. This work started as her personal project and was joined with the Rotary Club of Reno when they partnered with the City of Reno to create the Bicentennial Sculpture Park. Both the park and the river walk have been adopted by the Rotary club as on-going projects. Along the garden walk you'll see daffodils and tulips in springtime and roses and asters and coreopsis
