Yarn Bomb Reno
To Yarn Bomb is to cover (an object or structure in a public place) with decorative knitted or crocheted material, as a form of street art. For the sixth year in a row these talented fiber artists will cover trees with knitted or crocheted fabrics to depict their interpretation of this year's theme, Woodstock. The installation of the pieces will be done June 26 from 9 am to noon. This year the event has moved to the trees along Riverside Drive from The Hub to Lundsford Park. Each tree is adopted by an artist who interprets the theme and prepare the adornment for their tree. The cost of the yarn and the time to prepare the exhibit are all financed by the artist. Please read the artist bio on each tree for more interpretation and information on the exhibit. This exhibit does not harm the trees or the environment. After the exhibit, many of the larger pieces are donated to the Nevada Humane Society to serve as blankets for pets.
