From 1961 to 1971, Motown Records had more than 100 songs in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. That kind of success wasn't by accident – founder Berry Gordy Jr. had a knack for recognizing soul artists with a mainstream pop appeal who would flip the music world on its head. Don't miss the Reno Phil's homage to this iconic era as the orchestra and three vocalists perform hits by Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, The Temptations, Diana Ross and more. Pops on the River is the Reno Phil's largest fundraiser of the year and features an outdoor concert, a costume contest, and a celebration of our city's creativity and passion for the arts. This annual event takes place the second Saturday in July.
