Slavic Festival Concert

Music Slavic Festival Concert

The Balalaika and Domra Association of America (BDAA) exists to promote the playing and legacy of Eastern European (Slavic) and Romani folk music in the US. Our goal is to introduce new people to this rich musical tradition and create resources for members to learn more about the balalaika, domra, bayan, folk song, dance, and traditions, and to connect with others with similar interests. During the second week of July, the BDAA holds a yearly conference and in 2025 we selected Reno as our host city. During the week, participants attend workshops that feature music, folk dance and choral instruction, history and ethnomusicology lectures and traditional arts. Additionally, attendees enjoy camaraderie and friendship with other folk music enthusiasts from around the world. The culmination of the weekly event is the Saturday evening concert which is open to the public. At the concert, 80 BDAA members will perform orchestral pieces featuring the balalaika, domra, bayan and other associated instruments. We will be joined by instrumental virtuosos, folk singers, and traditional Slavic dancers. Membership in the BDAA and participation in the convention is open to all lovers of eastern European traditions. More information on joining the BDAA can be found at www.altbdaa.com.
