Silent Movie Night with Squeeke Steele and Friends
Come to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral for an evening of musical entertainment. Our program will be headlined by local legend Squeek Steele accompanying a silent film and richly supplemented by solos performed by local piano teachers and students. Known as a pianist, organist, composer and teacher, Squeek Steele has performed internationally from Singapore to Berlin, Germany, to New Zealand and Nepal, and on the east and west coasts of the United States as well. Hailed as a lightning bolt in a black dress (Philadelphia Inquirer), Squeek played her way into the Guinness Book of World Records for most songs performed on piano from memory in 1988 (1990 book, p.18, under Squeek Moore). Check out Squeek's website: www.goodoldsongs.com to get access to her documentary SQUEEKY KEYS about the Guinness World Record, and see her performance schedule. This concert will also serve as a fundraiser for the Northern Nevada Music Teacher's Association (NNMTA). NNMTA is a community of music teachers in Northern Nevada committed to the following mission: 1) fostering professionalism; 2) maintaining a community that provides its members encouraging support; 3) providing a program of continuing education, focused on pedagogical growth; 4)organizing opportunities for student musical achievement; and 5) encouraging networking among the music community, schools, and related organizations.
