Irish Tune Sessions at Ceol
Each Tuesday during Artown (as during the rest of the year), Ceol Irish Pub hosts the longest running traditional Irish session in Reno. A trad session is an informal gathering where the responsibility for picking and leading tunes (or sometimes songs) is taken in turn around a circle. These tunes are played on traditional instruments such as fiddle, tin whistle, button accordion, mandolin, guitar etc. often with two or three tunes in a row. The session is open and all players are welcome, but folks new to this one are encouraged to attend one first to listen, to see if it's for you. Of course everyone with an interest in hearing Irish/Scottish/Celtic traditional tunes is encouraged to come listen and enjoy a pint or two. Bluegrass, Old timey, Country and of course Celtic Rock all have their roots in this style of music. Ceol is located at 410 California Avenue, and the music starts at 8PM. [Ceol is a non-smoking, 21+ venue]
