Spilling the Tea of History

Theater Spilling the Tea of History

In a rural town in the USA, a history teacher goes over his syllabus so that expectations are clear throughout the year. A student realizes that there doesn't appear to be any curriculum dedicated to queer history. The student poses the question, and the teacher begins to panic. While he believes it's a valid question that warrants a response, how does he do so without jeopardizing his job? He answers in the most politically correct way. Later that week, it's brought to the teacher's attention that parents are fuming. It sparks an emergency school board meeting. After a heated exchange between opposing factions, the student goes up to speak. After a monologue of why the question was important, the student poses it again. This sends a shock through the space-time continuum. The board meeting members are transported to a tea party where iconic pioneers of the LGBTQ+ history movement share their stories of struggles, hopes, and how their journey impacted today's society.
