Sally Zanjani, a noted author, called them “The Winters Boys,” Theo and Ira Winters but not much was mentioned about their sister, Harriet Winters Read. The family initially settled in Washoe Valley in 1857, several of their Nevada homes still in existence today. Learn about this fascinating Nevada family. Lorraine Petersen was the project and development manager for Granite Construction Company in California before she retired and moved to Reno in 2007. Petersen is very passionate about history, “studying history is more exciting than reading any mystery and do love a great mystery.” been an NHS Docent since 2013. She loves leading school and adult tours, helping research Nevada history, and working on labeling and storing artifacts. She loves to learn something new.
