Violette Quartet is a small jazz combo rooted in Northern Nevada's growing music scene, bringing together four musicians with a shared love for improvisation and jazz music. The group features Alex Hose on drums, Teagan Lorenz on guitar, McKinnon Violette on trumpet, and Evan Reese on bass. The Violette Quartet came together during our time as students at the University of Nevada Reno, and our focus as a group has been drawing inspiration from classic and modern jazz alike. Our sound reflects influences ranging from bebop and hard bop to jazz fusion and contemporary artists. We attempt to channel the spirit of traditional jazz standards while also leaning into the textures and freedom of contemporary jazz styles. At the heart of our group is a focus on musical conversation—trading ideas, building energy, and leaving space for each player's voice to come through. As part of Artown's month-long celebration of arts and culture in Reno, Violette Quartet is excited to bring their sound to the community on July 7th. Whether you're a longtime jazz fan or just curious, our set offers an inviting and energetic live experience that highlights the creativity of local musicians.
