NHS Artown Talks - On The GO! Finding Nevada Wild: Stories of the Terrain, Culture, and People of the Most Mysterious State in the West
Every Saturday in July, we will feature two amazing History talks from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. at our community partner's location. Our Artown talks are free to the public.
Learn about what makes the Silver State Wild with guest speaker Sydney Martinez, photographer and author.
A great program not to miss!
Offering an entry point to understanding Nevada's landscapes, culture, and people, this book is an inspiring and personal ode to the Silver State that takes curious adventurers off the grid to experience a version of the state few people truly know.
Written from the perspective of someone who has researched, visited, and experienced many of Nevada's defining places, Finding Nevada Wild features chapters devoted to various interests and activities. Vivid photography accompanies personal stories and practical guidance to show why Nevada should be at the top of everyone's must-experience list.
Sydney has written about and photographed Nevada for nearly 20 years. She earned her degrees in journalism and photography at the University of Nevada, Reno. Martinez is currently pursuing turquoise silversmithing.
Please note that the venue has 60 seats available; arrive early to secure yours.
We want to thank our community partner, Nevada Sunset Winery, for hosting this series at their location while NHS is closed.
